Student exchange to Finland

On Sunday, 23th of April,

12 Students and 3 teachers from Marienschule and Nordschule in Bonn started the journey to Espoo.

With a very warm welcome by Karamzin school on Monday, we had an interesting and exciting day at school.

After some lessons in Math, English, German, Dance and 3D printing, we finally went to the sportsfield, where we found... SNOW!

As it was not enough to go skiing, we played baseball instead.

Tuesday was Helsinki day: We learned a lot about the history of Helsinki and visited the famous Helsinki cathedral and the harbour. We were especially impressed by the big library.

On Tuesday evening, the kids had dinner with local families from Espoo. It was a great experience and everyone went to bed happily  - thank you so much!!!

Wednesday started with school again. We watched the Karamzin talent show with acrobatics, karaoke, piano and much more. Afterwards it was "German-time": Our kids had prepared lessons in German for several classes and the kids at Karamzin did very well. In the evening, we attended school disco and had a great time.

Thursday was a perfect day in the green extended classroom. We went to Nuuksio National Park, where we met a class from Karamzin. In Haltia Nature Centre, we were impressed by the exhibition and had fun in the bird´s nest and the bear hole.

Afterwards we made a tour in the beautiful forrest (which now is called "Wichtelwald").

The big surprise and highlight of our day was feeding and petting reindeers. They had just lost their antlers.

Unfortunately the reindeers were too big for our luggage.

The week flew by and we are grateful for the wonderful experience.
